Student Representative Council

Welcome back to all of our students and families for another exciting year at Sirius College. A key part to any great school is allowing students the opportunity to develop leadership skills and express their voices and desires for growth and change. One way students can do this at Sirius College is through the Student Representative Council (SRC).

The SRC is responsible for organising and supporting school activities and events such as athletics, performing arts, and other clubs’ activities. The council plans many school wide activities throughout the year including: Multicultural weeks, social events, charity support, dress up days and other fun and exciting activities.

While supporting these social and charitable events, students also develop personal leadership skills and an understanding of group dynamics. The SRC seeks to foster in students a better understanding of themselves and their capacity for leadership, to develop their leadership skills, and to use their voice to inspire positive change for their peers.

The Student Representative Council is a voice for the entire student body. With more than 70 applications this year, selecting the committee was not an easy feat. Applications were reviewed by a panel of both teachers and students in leadership positions within the school, as the SRC is all about students having a voice. Places this year were limited, and though not everyone made it into the committee, their voices and ideas are important. Any student is able to submit their ideas and initiatives to SRC members and see the changes they wish to see acted upon.
